Sun Salutations for Beginners & Training Schedule

Ready to take up the Yogathon Challenge at NUS?!

You can learn the Sun Salutation with the help of this video! Of course, you can also join us for the Daily Training Sessions leading upto the Yogathon for more practice!

The twelve postures that make Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskars) are:

These are just recommended schedules to follow. Obviously it’s more important to listen to your body and do as much as the body permits and not overexert yourself!

4-Week Schedule

Note: All the below figures are in Sets.  1 Set = 2 Rounds. There are twelve poses in the Sun Salutation series, and one set consists of performing two rounds. During the second round, practitioners move the opposite leg from the one involved in movement during the first round.

For every 12 sets that you perform, keep the first 3 sets at slow pace & the remaining 9 at fast pace.

Practice Sessions

We will be providing free practice sessions to learn the Sun Salutations and gear for the yogathon!

The schedule is as follows, starting from 24 Jan, Tuesday :

  • Mon – Fri : 7 PM @ ERC Rooftop (Education resource centre, UTown, NUS)
  • Sunday : 9 AM @ Practice room-1, Level-3, Stephen Riady Centre
  • Note – no sessions during CNY break from 27 – 30 Jan, Fri – Mon
